Mikey's 4th Birthday - Angry Bird Style

I had a ton of fun getting the house ready for Mikey's birthday party on Friday.  I got tons of ideas online to make his day the best especially from Pinterest.  A lot of the ideas I saw had items suspended from the ceiling which I really liked, but I have a huge vaulted ceiling which makes that basically impossible.  Instead I suspended 5 lengths of twine across my dining room to make a false ceiling to hang things from.  I think it turned out fantastic.  I added faces to regular balloons that I got from The Party Animal and I got the banner idea from Shery K Designs.  I also found the Angry Birds font online and with a little Photoshop customized the banner for the party.
The kids had pizza and then they picked an Angry Bird or Pig to color to decorate their party favor bag.  Of course we put their names on their pictures to keep track of each bag.  I got the coloring pages from Cartoon Jr and copied them at 75% so they would fit on the front of the bags.  I was going to initially glue the pictures to the front of the bags but decided last minute that stapling was quicker and easier.

Once those were done, I had pre-cut out Angry Bird mask pieces for the kids to glue together.  Thankfully I had several adults to help with all the 4 year olds with this project! They had a choice of red, blue or pink.  I was very happy that 4 years olds weren't correcting me on my non-Angry Bird color choices.  I got the mask idea and template from Funky Polkadot Giraffe.  She has some great ideas on her website.  She actually sewed the masks together but I didn't have the time.  Plus I thought the kids would have a blast making their own and they did!

When then did the cake and ice cream.  I did a licensed Angry Bird cake that I purchased from Harmons that has a real working sling shot on it.  All the kids had a blast singing Happy Birthday to Mikey and also helping him blow out his candles!

I then made bowling pins out of water bottles, replaced the labels with green cardstock and stuck on a Pig sticker that I bought from Walmart.  The blue ball is just a ball we had at the house that I taped a blue bird balloon template face on.  The cans were also wrapped in green cardstock and then I did a search for Pig pictures and found several that I sized to fit the cans and them glued them on. We also had a tank pinata which I had decorated with Angry Bird stickers and I put Pig stickers where the bullets come out.  Nothing like getting the kids all sugared up to send back home!

Once the kids got tired of the games, I just let them play outside in the backyards playing basketball, frisbee, or just running around.  After all was said and done, the kids had a great time and it really was worth it!

A Pirate's Life for Me!

On Thursday, one of Bryson's classmates turned two and his parents had an entertainer come to the school to celebrate his birthday. Bryson got his face painted and managed to leave most of it intact for most of the day!

A Balmy Day in Utah

Well, it was only 57 degrees as a high today, but when there was snow falling on Thursday you'll take whatever you can get! The sky was blue today and the sun was shining. A perfect day for a two year old boy to play outside. We even went for a stroll in the neighborhood.

School Pics - March 2009

In the fall and in the spring, Bryson and Mikey's daycare does school pictures. We were surprised when we saw pictures with both of them together!

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a Bear

Awwww how cute!

Happy Halloween!

Here is Clark Kent with his alter ego Superman who is in need of his kryptonite!

Do They Look Alike?

Maybe the debate can be resolved as to if Bryson and Michael look alike.

School Dayzzzzz

Bryson sure is cute and handsome for his school pictures this year. He is getting so big and tall and smart!

He starts learning things so young!

After getting home from daycare one day, I had to feed the baby promptly and left Bryson loose in the car. (The car was parked and off in the garage!) He promptly wanted to be just like Mom and Dad and climbed into the driver's seat to take control. Such a cutie!

Omniture Carnivale 2008

Here is Ken's work annual summer shindig that we went to when Michael was all of 10 days old. It was a ton of fun! My mom and Lilly also got to attend too!

Train Conductor Bryson

Bryson just loves riding around on his train upstairs, downstairs, outside, it doesn't really matter where. Even in his pajamas first thing in the morning!

We did take Bryson to the dentist yesterday to have his chipped tooth checked out and the dentist said that there was no nerve damage. He said he could fix the tooth but it would be merely cosmetic. Thank goodness for that blessing!

Michael is 4 weeks old!

Can you believe that Michael is now 4 weeks old as of yesterday! Time sure does fly when you are having fun?!?!?!?! He's getting cuter by the day! Everyone says that he looks like his name sake :-)
